We built the Rainorest Academy Community Center with help from Students Offering Support and the Family Foundation. Originally, we wanted to create a high school to serve the local Maya villages, as fewer people graduate from high school here than in any other part of Belize, due mainly to lack of access. The government of Belize has not seen fit to support this project so far, so we using the building as a community center offering internet, printing, and a library. We also offer free programs, from The Mighty Jungle Summer Camp (some of the participants are pictured above) in 2010 to 2016's Rap for the Rainforest poetry slam.
Click the Summer Camp tab to view photos. We also made videos in which local children dramatize environmental problems and solutions.
